The EIA-530 Serial Physical Interface Card (PIC) provides a cost-effective solution for enterprise WANs and ISPs who need to establish connectivity between Juniper Networks M-series routers and network devices with EIA-530 interfaces. Juniper Networks also offers conversion cables that work with the EIA-530 Serial PIC to enable X.21 and V.35 serial interfaces. The EIA-530 PIC is an excellent choice for mission-critical applications that require dependable serial interfaces. Offering hardware flexibility and adaptability for various applications, the EIA-530 Serial PIC provides connectivity to a wide range of synchronous equipment at data transfer rates of up to 16 Mbps. The following benefits are offered by this PIC:

  • Compatibility with industry-standard EIA specifications, enabling Juniper Networks M-series routers to connect to any device with an EIA-530 interface.
  • Support for transmission rates up to 16 Mbps., providing connectivity to CSU/DSUs, FRADs, CODECs, and communications security equipment.
  • Connectivity to a wide variety of cryptographic equipment via user-configurable signaling, including re-sync pulse and re-sync duration.
  • User-configurable clock/data inversion helps bring interface clock and data signals within phase limit tolerance, ensuring error-free transmission. When interfacing serial equipment, it is essential that data and clock signals are within tolerable phase limits to prevent loss of data. Signals can be out of phase for several reasons, including cable length, cable construction, or environmental factors such as temperature.
  • Comprehensive CLI commands display status of all control signals and clocking information as well as packet, byte, and re-sync counters.
  • Full support for Juniper Networks QoS features, including support for multiple queues and RED.
