Overview

A Multi-function Platform for the New Data Center

The Juniper Networks WXC™ application acceleration platforms are part of the WX family of products and identical to the WX platforms, with the addition of on-board hard drives to store repeated data patterns, effectively increasing effective WAN capacity by as much as 100 fold.

The hard drives provide support for Network Sequence Caching, which dramatically speeds the transfer of large files by eliminating repetitive data sequences. The hard-drive storage supplies the capacity needed to store long data sequences for long periods of time, enabling up to 100-fold increases in WAN capacity. The WXC platforms constantly communicate, exchanging vital information such as topology, accessibility and path-performance metrics. The WXC platforms also interoperate with the Juniper Networks WX application acceleration platforms; working with the WX 100 in a stacked configuration, the WXC platforms extend support for Sequence Caching to 155 Mbps bandwidth levels.

WXC platforms can be installed and configured in just 10 minutes using a web-based wizard. Configuration can also be fully automated using the WXOS™ and WX Central Management System™ (WX CMS™) software. IT simply defines centralized configuration templates; when remote WXC platforms boot up, they retrieve a network address, locate the WX CMS server through the domain name service (DNS), download their configuration file and begin operation.

Specifications

The WXC platforms accelerate application performance for remote and branch office users accessing centralized resources, delivering faster response times, reducing WAN bandwidth consumption, and prioritizing mission-critical traffic to ensure uninterrupted business operations. The WXC platforms, which interoperate with each other as well as the Juniper WX application acceleration platforms, scale to meet a range of WAN bandwidth levels while providing a comprehensive feature set to optimize WAN performance.

Deployment

The WXC application acceleration platforms operate transparently, independent of other network equipment. IT can place a WXC device either in the flow of traffic between a LAN switch and WAN router or attach it to just a mirrored port on a switch or router.

WXC Series Deployment

WXC platforms provide a number of redundancy features. The WXC platforms support fail-safe operation; in the event of a hardware or software failure, including total loss of power, the platforms automatically convert to bypass mode in which all traffic simply passes through the WXC platform untouched. WXC platforms also support a multitude of redundant deployment modes.

WXC platforms work effectively alongside VPN servers or firewalls. The WXC platforms sit on the LAN side of the security device and optimize traffic before it is encrypted.

Benefits

The WX product family coupled with WX CMS management software enables high-performance businesses to create a competitive advantage by providing:

  • Uninterrupted productivity - Accelerates mission-critical applications and rich content by reducing the volume of traffic.
  • Confident interactions and transactions - Accelerates delivery of web applications by speeding application-specific protocols (TCP, UDP, HTTP/S, MAPI, CIFS).
  • Real time collaboration and communications - Accelerates real-time business-critical applications, such as VoIP, by prioritizing and allocating bandwidth.
  • Quick, secure access to the WAN - Accelerates features for secure applications, such as HTTPS, encrypted Remote Desktop Connections or CIFS with SMB signing.
  • Proactive network and application traffic management - Provides the network and application visibility to deliver applications exactly as intended, on a consistent basis.
  • Improved operational and cost efficiencies - Productivity gains the WX and WXC platforms provide in the form of application acceleration contribute to improving the bottom line.

Product Demos

WX Framework Application Control Technologies

In wide-area networks that connect branch offices to the data center, all data traffic competes for the same limited bandwidth. That's not always good for business, especially if slow, low-priority traffic delays time-sensitive, mission-critical transactions.

This three-minute demo explores how the WX Framework's Application Control techniques — specifically Quality of Service (QoS) and Policy-based Multipath capabilities — help businesses properly allocate WAN resources to maintain service levels and ensure that sufficient resources are always available for high-priority business applications. See the demo now

WX Framework Acceleration Technologies

The WX Framework defines the attributes required of a true WAN acceleration and optimization solution, based on four specific categories: compression and caching; acceleration; application control; and visibility.

This demo describes the acceleration capabilities enabled by the WX Framework and integrated into the Juniper WX and WXC application acceleration platforms. The demo covers both Packet Flow Acceleration, which improves the performance of TCP-based applications throughout the extended enterprise; and Application Flow Acceleration, which speeds response times for specific applications — namely Microsoft Exchange, Windows files services, and web-based applications — whose performance is constrained by the performance limitations and latency imposed by their underlying Layer 7 protocols. See the demo now

WX CMS Software Demo

The Juniper WAN application acceleration (WX/WXC) platforms are equipped with powerful visibility and reporting tools that provide insight into WAN and application performance. WebView allows per-device management, while the WX Central Management System (CMS) software provides easy-to-use and extensive central configuration, monitoring, and management capabilities for up to 2,000 geographically dispersed WX and WXC platforms.

This demo highlights the main features and functionalities of the WX CMS software, including the “My WAN” portal, monitoring and reporting, device and configuration management, auto-deployment and license management, and role-based administration. See the demo

Solution Demos

Juniper Networks Application Acceleration Solutions

To keep pace in today's competitive business climate, companies must streamline their business operations to increase productivity and reduce costs. Server centralization and data center consolidation initiatives help, but trends like globalization and expansion conflict with these initiatives and threaten to undermine their benefits.

This four-minute demo describes how the Juniper Networks application acceleration solutions embrace these trends and help businesses achieve their strategic IT objectives while reducing costs, improving application performance, and maximizing existing network investments. See the demo now

Juniper Networks Branch Office Demo

Branch offices are a critical component of today's enterprises. By some accounts, between 80% and 90% of employees are located in branch or regional offices. The result of all the latest trends is the need for a new branch office solution - one that meets branch office security, connectivity, and performance challenges and requirements. Take a look at this demo to the see the latest branch office trends and challenges, what the requirements are for building an ideal branch office solution as well as the Juniper Networks security, networking, and application acceleration branch office solutions that will meet your needs. See the demo
