Overview
With an unsurpassed combination of powerful hardware packet processing and the flexibility of JUNOSe software, the E-series portfolio provides the performance, scale, and "always on" availability required at the network edge. Service providers worldwide rely on the E-series platforms to cost-effectively address subscriber management, edge routing, and service aggregation requirements.
The E-series consists of six "application-optimized" platforms designed specifically to address the unique requirements of carrier-scale multiplay deployments.
| Platform | Aggregate Throughput | Description |
|---|---|---|
| E320 BSR | 320 Gbps or 100 Gbps | Extends wire-speed 10 Gbps performance per slot to support large PoP and CO deployments, as well as bandwidth-intensive multiplay services. |
| E120 BSR | 120 Gbps | Supports wire-speed 10 Gbps performance per slot to support medium-sized PoPs and CO deployments, as well as bandwidth-intensive multiplay services. |
| ERX-1440 | 40 Gbps | Supports medium-sized PoP and CO deployments and multiplay services. |
| ERX-1410 | 10 Gbps | Supports medium-sized PoP and CO deployments and multiplay services. |
| ERX-710 | 10 Gbps | Compact — designed for small environments where space is at a premium and redundancy is desired. |
| ERX-310 | 10 Gbps | Very compact — designed for small, distributed environments where space conservation is the primary concern. |
| ERX-705 | 5 Gbps | Compact — designed for small environments where space is at a premium and redundancy is desired. |
Features and Benefits
Cross-Platform Feature Consistency Via JUNOSe Software
The E-series platforms are powered by JUNOSe software, a mature, field-proven, and feature-rich network operating system. This provides network-wide feature consistency and a common operational environment.
High-Performance Architecture
The E-series platforms share a common modular hardware architecture. This distributed architecture supports the incremental addition of processing power as new subscribers and services are provisioned without compromising service quality or system reliability.
Comprehensive Subscriber Management
A wide variety of management features are supported in order to effectively aggregate traffic from access multiplexers, terminate PPP sessions, and enforce QoS policies on a per-flow and per-subscriber basis.
High Availability
Redundant hardware and resilient software deliver carrier-class reliability to maximize uptime and revenues.
Advanced QoS
JUNOSe software incorporates application-aware intelligence to respond to real-time changes in the application mix and ensure the quality delivery of voice and video services even as subscribers concurrently consume multiple services over the same physical connection. The E-series platforms also support fine-grained IP QoS capabilities at line rate for all subscriber flows, so QoS policies are enforced and high-priority traffic receives the appropriate level of preferential treatment to ensure subscriber satisfaction.
