Viewing the License Mode for MPC Cards on MX Series Routers

Starting with Junos OS Release 14.2, with MPC4E 3D for the MX series routers (MX240, MX480, MX960, MX2010, and MX2020), MPCs can be set, on a per-slot basis on the router, to match the paper license (R or IR) of the card. The setting is attached to the slot, not the card, and will be preserved across both GRES and ISSU switchovers.

To view the license mode of a given slot:

  1. Log on to the router and type either of the following commands.
    user@host>show configuration
    user@host> show chassis hardware extensive

Note: The license mode setting is a property of the slot, not the MPC card. As such, if you move the MPC card from one chassis to another, the slot at the old location will continue to reflect the old setting until the configuration is deleted, and the slot at the new location will need to be set to reflect the mode of the new card.
