Supported PPP Interface Standards
Junos OS substantially supports the following RFCs, which define standards for Point-to-Point Protocol (PPP) interfaces.
- RFC 1332, The PPP Internet Protocol Control Protocol (IPCP)
- RFC 1334, PPP Authentication Protocols
- RFC 1661, The Point-to-Point Protocol (PPP)
- RFC 1662, PPP in HDLC-like Framing
- RFC 1989, PPP Link Quality Monitoring
- RFC 1990, The PPP Multilink Protocol (MP)
- RFC 2364, PPP Over AAL5
- RFC 2615, PPP over SONET/SDH
- RFC 2686, The Multi-Class Extension to
Multi-Link PPP
The following features are not supported:
- Negotiation of address field compression and protocol field compression PPP NCP options; instead, a full 4-byte PPP header is always sent
- Prefix elision
- RFC 3021, Using 31-Bit Prefixes on IPv4 Point-to-Point Links
The following RFCs do not define standards, but provide information about PPP. The IETF classifies them as “Informational.”
