Configuring Indexed Next Hops
Indexed next hops allow Juniper Networks’ devices to restore all next hops after a Graceful Routing Engine Switchover (GRES) or after a device restart. The Junos OS software supports indexed next hops by default as of Junos OS Release 12.1. The Junos OS software can process both the older style next hops and indexed next hops. However, if you configure the indexed-next-hop statement at the [edit routing-options forwarding-table] hierarchy level, all next hops processed by the Juniper Networks device are converted to indexed next hops.
To enable indexed next hops, include the indexed-next-hop statement:
indexed-next-hop;
You can include this statement at the following hierarchy level:
