Fast Track to Rack Installation and Power

SUMMARY This procedure guides you through the simplest steps to install your SRX4200 Firewall in a rack and connect it to power. Have more complex installation needs? See Installing the SRX4200 Firewall in a Rack.

Install the SRX4200 in a Rack

You can install the SRX4200 Firewall in a four-post rack or cabinet. We’ll walk you through the steps to install an AC-powered firewall in a four-post rack.
  1. Attach the mounting ears to the front of the chassis and the fixed brackets to the rear of the device.
  2. Slide the device into the rack, and secure the mounting ears to the rack.
  3. Slide the adjustable brackets into the fixed brackets attached to the rear of the device.
  4. Secure the adjustable brackets to the rack, using the mounting screws.

Connect to Power

To connect the SRX4200 Firewall to AC power, you must do the following:

Ground the SRX4200 Firewall

To ground the SRX4200 Firewall, do the following:

  1. Attach an electrostatic discharge (ESD) grounding strap to your bare wrist, and connect the other end of the ESD strap to the ESD point on the rack.

  2. Attach a grounding cable to earth ground, and then attach the other end to the grounding point at the rear of the SRX4200.

Connect the Power Cord and Power On the Firewall

To connect the power cord, do the following:

  1. Ensure that the power supplies are fully inserted in the chassis and the latches are secure.

  2. Plug the power cord into the power inlet on the rear panel of the SRX4200.

  3. Push the power cord retainer onto the power cord.

  4. If the AC power source outlet has a power switch, turn it off.

  5. Plug the power cord into an AC power source outlet.

  6. If the AC power source outlet has a power switch, turn it on. The firewall doesn't have a power switch and powers on as soon as you plug it in.
