Description

Set control-word to request that other routers insert a control word between the label stack and the MPLS payload.

Enabling control-word prevents provider edge routers from incorrectly identifying a VPLS payload as an IPv4 or IPv6 payload. This prevents out-of-order packet delivery in a VPLS network that is configured to load-balance VPLS traffic across multiple paths.

The control-word status for static pseudowires in an VPLS instance depends on the VPLS instance and mesh-group configurations. Table 1 displays the control-word status based on the control-word configuration in the VPLS instance and static pseudowire mesh-group.
