Description
Choose how the device elects the designated forwarder (DF) for an Ethernet segment among the multihoming peer provider edge (PE) devices in an Ethernet VPN (EVPN) network.
If you configure the df-election-granularity
per-evi
option, you must also configure the df-election-type mod
option
without configuring a df-election-type preference
option to prevent
an error when committing the configuration.
Options
preference value |
Use preference-based election for EVPN multihoming DF election for an ESI, and specify a preference value. With this option, the device uses value as an administrative
preference value associated with the Ethernet segment identifier (ESI) you
configure at the same When the candidate devices in the Ethernet segment receive the Type 4 route, they determine their DF preference order based on the configured preference value and the IP address. By default, the candidate devices base the preference-based DF election process
on the highest configured preference value. To enable DF election based
on the lowest configured preference value instead of the highest
configured preference value, you can include the
Whether you specify to use the highest or lowest configured preference value to determine preference order, if all the DF candidate devices for the ESI have the same configured preference value, then they elect the DF based on the lowest IP address.
