Juniper License Lifecycle
Learn about Juniper’s software license lifecycle. Understand the software lifecycle phases: purchase license, activate license, deploy license, monitor license, update license and renew subscription licenses.
Let’s go over the Juniper Software license lifecycle. The figure illustrates the lifecycle and the table describes the lifecycle phases and purpose.
Software License Lifecycle Phase |
Purpose |
---|---|
1. Purchase Entitlement |
Place a Juniper Sales Order to purchase a Juniper license. Juniper delivers a Fulfillment Email with details of the purchased license and the Activation steps for the specific product. |
2. Activate License |
Activate a license to generate a license key. The Juniper Agile Licensing (JAL) Portal supports the Activation process for most Juniper product licenses. We use the Activation process to identify the specific Juniper product (Serial Number, UUID, and so on) on which you intend to use the license. For many products, the Activation process generates a License Key. This License Key is installed on the target device or application. The activation process varies from product to product. Refer to the Fulfillment Email you receive from Juniper. |
3. Deploy License |
Install the license key on the target device or application. Note that some devices and software versions do not require a license key to be installed. |
4. Monitor License |
Monitor license usage and compliance for a single device/application at the device or software. Monitor license usage and compliance for all your licenses at the JAL Portal. |
5. Update Licenses |
When required, update the license key. Update license scenarios include:
|
6. Renew Subscription License |
Renew licenses at the end of a Subscription term to continue using the product. |
