AP61 Access Point

The Juniper AP61 is an outdoor access point that support 802.11ac Wave 2 Wi-Fi, patented Bluetooth® LE, and Internet of Things (IoT) integration.

The AP61 works in conjunction with the Juniper Mist Cloud Architecture driven by Mist AI to collect and analyze metadata in near real-time from all wireless clients. This enables rapid problem detection and root cause identification with predictive recommendations and proactive correction, realizing the self-driving networksTM.

The AP61 has a dynamic vBLE 16-element antenna array for the industry’s most accurate and scalable location services, including User Engagement, Asset Visibility, and Contact Tracing applications. This is achieved without the need for battery-powered BLE beacons and manual calibration.

Features + Benefits

The AP61 delivers high-performance wireless access with three 802.11ac Wave 2 radios that deliver up to 1730 Mbps in the 5GHz band and up to 800 Mbps in the 2.4Ghz band.

Whether you want to extend your users’ experience outside the four walls, or set up pervasive outdoor wireless with mesh backhaul, the AP61 delivers the best performance with the simplest operations in an industrial-grade form factor.

The AP61 has a 16-element Virtual Bluetooth LE (vBLE) antenna array controlled from the Juniper Mist Cloud Architecture.

Passive antennas enhance the power of a single transmitter and produce directional beams to accurately detect distance and location with accuracy of 1- 3 meters. With Mist’s patented vBLE technology, you can deploy an unlimited number of virtual beacons in your physical environment without requiring battery-powered BLE beacons.

Bluetooth Location Services

The AP61 works with the Juniper Mist Cloud Architecture to provide high-accuracy enterprise-grade Bluetooth® LE location services using virtual beacons.

A dedicated dual-band third radio collects data for our patent-pending Proactive Analytics and Correlation Engine (PACE).

The AP61 leverages machine learning to analyze user experience, correlate problems and automatically detect the root cause of problems.

Juniper Mist Wi-Fi Assurance, User Engagement and Asset Visibility services include a base analytics capability for analyzing up to 30 days of data, simplifying the process of extracting network insights from data and analytics across your enterprise to properly align your support resources or introduce enhanced premium services.

You can also subscribe to our Premium Analytics service to enable these advanced capabilities: further extend network insights and perform analytics for up to a one-year data set; enable custom reporting; and infuse telemetry from third-party data elements.

The Juniper Mist Cloud Architecture automatically captures packets and streams them to the cloud when major issues are detected.

This capability saves IT time and effort and eliminates the need for truck rolls with sniffers to reproduce and capture data for troubleshooting.

The AP61 Series automatically connects to the Juniper Mist Cloud Architecture,  downloads its configuration, and joins the appropriate network.

Firmware updates are retrieved and installed automatically, ensuring that the network is always up to date with new features, bug fixes, and security updates.

The AP61 uses its dual-band scanning mode to continuously scan the airspace for threats and interference.

This capability ensures optimal performance under what could otherwise be challenging RF conditions.
