Release Information
Statement introduced in Junos OS Release 11.1 for the QFX Series.
Description
Configure the server that NTP queries when the router or switch boots to determine the local date and time.
When you boot the router or switch, it issues an ntpdate request, which polls a network server to determine the local date and time. You need to configure a server that the router or switch uses to determine the time when the router or switch boots. Otherwise, NTP cannot synchronize to a time server if the server time significantly differs from the local router’s or switch’s time. You can configure either an IP address or a hostname for the boot server. If you configure a hostname instead of an IP address, the ntpdate request resolves the hostname to an IP address when the router or switch boots up.
Options
- address—IP address of an NTP boot server.
- hostname—Hostname of an NTP boot server.
