Following BMS launch, the BMS PXE boots from the ironic-provision
network. The ironic-provision network is not visible to the tenant.
BMS then connects to the provisioning network, connects to the TSN
node, and gets a temporary IP address from the subnet of the provisioning
network. This temporary IP address is not visible to the tenant. BMS
downloads the boot image from the TFTP server and saves it locally
for subsequent local boots. After the BMS is ready, it reboots. This
time, the BMS boots from local image. During the second reboot, the
BMS is disconnected from the ironic-provision network and is connected
to the tenant network. This process of transferring from the ironic-provisioning
network to the tenant network is called Network Flip. Then, the TSN node provides the BMS an IP address from the tenant
network. Once the BMS boots and is ready for use, it is connected
to tenant network.
