advertise-zero-ethernet-tag
Syntax
advertise-zero-ethernet-tag;
Hierarchy Level
[edit routing-instances name protocols evpn]
Description
Advertise EVPN Type 2 (MAC/IP Advertisement) and EVPN Type 3 (Inclusive Multicast
Ethernet Tag) routes with an Ethernet Tag ID value of 0. This statement only applies to
instance-type
EVPN routing instances and must have a valid
vlan-id
and no-normalization
configured.
You use the advertise-zero-ethernet-tag
configuration statement when
you need a vlan-based service with a valid vlan-id
providing Layer 3
gateway functionality while also providing RFC 7432 compliance for Layer 2 gateway
functionality with control plane EVPN routes advertised with an Ethernet Tag ID value of
0.
The following is an excerpt from a sample configuration:
user@mx960> show configuration routing-instances evpna instance-type evpn; protocols { evpn { advertise-zero-ethernet-tag; } } vlan-id 600; routing-interface irb.600; no-normalization; interface ge-0/0/1.600; route-distinguisher 1:1; vrf-target target:1:1;
The mod
based df-election-type
uses the vlan-id
in the
designated forwarder (DF) calculation. This can cause an inconsistency in the DF
election when one provider edge (PE) device is configured with vlan-id
none
and the other is configured with a valid vlan-id
.
Therefore, we recommend having the same vlan-id
configuration under
the EVPN routing instance to ensure a consistent DF election.
