encapsulation (protocols evpn)

Syntax

Hierarchy Level

Description

Configure an encapsulation type for EVPN features.

Options

encapsulation mpls

Use the encapsulation mpls statement with the interconnected-vlan-list statement as part of the interconnect configuration stanza for seamless stitching of EVPN-VXLAN data centers through EVPN-MPLS.

You configure both vxlan and mpls encapsulations as follows:

  • EVPN-VXLAN encapsulation going to the data center (DC) side

  • EVPN-MPLS encapsulation on the WAN Data Center Interconnect (DCI) side under the interconnect configuration hierarchy.

Note:

Configure the encapsulation mpls statement with the interconnected-vlan-list statement for DCI implementations.

This sample configuration defines which VLANs to interconnect from the EVPN-VXLAN domain to the EVPN-MPLS domain.

encapsulation srv6

The encapsulation srv6 statement is used in EVPN-VPWS and EVPN E-LAN services over an SRv6 underlay network.

Note:

encapsulation srv6 supports only pure Type 5 routes for EVPN E-LAN over SRv6.

encapsulation vxlan

The encapsulation vxlan statement is required for a VXLAN EVPN instance.

Note:

If you configure the encapsulation vxlan statement, then you must also configure the extended-vni-list statement.

Note:

The encapsulation vxlan statement is an exclusive command. You cannot configure the encapsulation vxlan statement with the extended-vlan-list statement, or other commands associated with MPLS EVPN instances.

Required Privilege Level

routing—To view this statement in the configuration.

routing-control—To add this statement to the configuration.
