Physical Interfaces Health Check Results

The Physical Interfaces accordion displays the components related to the physical interfaces on the PE devices that the VPN services span through.

To access the Physical Interfaces accordion:

  1. Navigate to the Orchestration > Instances > Service Instances page.

  2. Select a service instance and click the service-instance-name hyperlink to access the Service-Instance-Name Details page

  3. Click the Passive Assurance tab.

  4. Click and expand the Physical Interfaces accordion.

Table 1 lists the fields in the Physical Interfaces table. You can show or hide columns in the table or reset page preferences, using the vertical ellipsis menu.

The Relevant Events section on the right side of the accordion displays the last two events (alerts) in order of their severity. Hover over the View Details hyperlink to view more information about an event in a pop-up. Click View All Relevant Events to view all events or anomalies related to the physical interfaces. You can view relevant events for the past seven days.

To view details of health check results for physical interface parameters, click any hyperlinked entry in the Physical Interfaces table to open the Physical Interfaces Detail page.

Table 1: Fields in the Physical Interfaces Accordion

Field

Description

Device Name

Name of the PE device to which the physical interface belongs.

Interface Name

Name of the physical interface. For example, et-0/0/1.

Input Util

The input bandwidth utilization on the interface.

Output Util

The output bandwidth utilization on the interface.

Flaps

The number of link flaps on the interface.

Input Errors Count

The number of errors in packets received by the interface.

Output Errors Count

The number of errors in packets sent by the interface.

Admin State

The administrative state of the physical interface:

  • Up—The interface is active and can send and receive network traffic.

  • Down—The interface is inactive and does not send and receive network traffic. An interface is inactivated by the network administrator for reasons such as troubleshooting and maintenance.

Link State

The link state of the physical interface:

  • Up—The interface physical link is functional and network traffic can be sent or received by the interface.

  • Down—The interface physical link is not functional and the interface cannot transmit network traffic.

Speed

The interface speed or the maximum data transmission rate that the interface supports.

View Health Check Results for Physical Interface Parameters

The Physical Interfaces Detail page displays the health check results of the physical interface parameters, categorized into accordions. The accordion heading displays the parameter name, alerts generated for the parameter, and a condensed view of the performance graph displaying the health and functioning of the interface parameter.

To view the health check results of an interface parameter in detail, click and expand the corresponding accordion. The accordion displays the performance graph for the parameter, the Show Interfaces section that displays the physical interface name, and a table listing the interface name, alerts, and information specific to the interface parameter. For more information about performance graphs, see Performance Graphs to View Service Health Monitoring Data.
