MX204 Installation Overview

To install the router:

  1. Prepare your installation site.

    See MX204 Site Preparation Checklist.

  2. Review the safety guidelines and warnings:
  3. Unpack the router and verify the parts:
    1. See Unpacking MX204 Router.
    2. See Verifying the MX204 Router Parts Received.
  4. (Optional) Remove components from the MX204 router chassis before Installing It in a rack.

  5. Install the router in the rack.

    See Installing the MX204 Chassis in a Rack.

  6. (Optional; Required only if you have removed the components from the router in step 4) Reinstall components in the MX204 router after installing the chassis in a rack.

  7. Connect cables to the network and external devices.

  8. Connect the grounding cable.

  9. Connect the AC power cord or DC power cables:

  11. Perform the initial system configuration.
