AI Security and Data Use FAQs
How does Juniper Mist AI secure user data?
Protecting our end users’ data is mission critical to Juniper and we take many steps to ensure our customer data is secure:
- Cloud Security: Mist AI is co-located in tier-1 data centers with industry standard certifications that feature state-of-the-art physical and cybersecurity with highly reliable designs.
- Encryption: Industry standard encryption is utilized for data communications across network administrators, infrastructure hardware/software, end users, and the Juniper Mist Cloud while stored data is block-encrypted.
- Data Collection: Juniper Mist AI only collects required data to provide relevant insights into network health. Juniper minimizes collection and retention of data to simplify data subject response and process.
To learn more about how Juniper secures user data, see the Mist AI Cloud Services Description.
What data does Mist AI collect and process?
Juniper, by default, only collects certain device data and does not collect the payload data of applications, network devices, Internet of Things (IoT) devices, or individual device end users. The collection and analysis of device data allows Juniper to provide insights into a specific network, IoT, or user devices’ behavior, along with analytics across device types, for proactive network issue detection and resolution. To learn more about what device data is processed, see the Mist AI Cloud Services Description.
How does Juniper Mist AI protect against AI vulnerabilities?
- Security Testing: Juniper performs web security testing from development through production. Juniper periodically scans for SQL injections, cross-site-scripting (XSS), and more than 700 other vulnerabilities, including the OWASP Top 10.
- Cyber Incidents: Juniper’s Cyber Incident Response Team (CIRT) manages vulnerability reports and provides support for security incidents.
To learn more about how Juniper secures user data, see the Mist AI Cloud Services Description.
How does Juniper Mist AI ensure ethical processes and governance?
Juniper follows AI Innovation Principles to ensure that our AI solutions are mission-driven, transparent, explainable, inclusive, and secure.
Watch to this short video from our Chief AI Officer to learn about the importance of ethical AI: Bob Friday Talks - AI Alchemy: Building Trust in the Digital Wizard.
How is my data 'ringfenced' within the Juniper Mist AI engine?
Juniper Mist AI segregates each company’s data so one organization cannot see another organization’s information. To learn more about how Juniper secures user data, see the Mist AI Cloud Services Description.
How does Juniper Mist AI handle digital sovereignty?
Juniper ensures customers have digital sovereignty when it comes to their data in a number of ways:
- Data Storage Location: Juniper gives customers sovereignty over where their data is located. End users may elect U.S., UK, EU, Canada, or Australia hosting based on their regulatory requirements.
- Data Ownership: The licensed entity or end user retains ownership of its customers’ data. In connection with end users’ use of the Cloud Service, Juniper collects and uses processed data in accordance with the Juniper Privacy Policy. Juniper uses processed data to enable, optimize, and provide the Cloud Services and support the end user and improve Juniper Cloud Services in general.
- Data Protection: Protecting end users’ data is mission critical to Juniper and we take many steps to ensure our customer data is secure, from cloud security to encryption to minimizing data collection and retention.
To learn more about how Juniper secures user data and provides end users with control over their data, see the Mist AI Cloud Services Description.
