Metro as a Service introduces the first supplier-approved comprehensive validation of MEF 3.0 compliance conducted over a production-emulated network. This JVD enhances the solution established with Metro Ethernet Business Services JVD by executing and passing over 12,000 MEF 3.0 test cases end-to-end across all featured E-Line, E-LAN, E-Tree, and Access E-Line services.

Juniper Networks is committed to delivering quality, interoperability, and industry standards compliance for Carrier Ethernet services. The validation assures our customers that Juniper products and solutions are reliable, compatible, and capable of delivering high-performance Ethernet connectivity in diverse networking environments. The primary devices under test include MEF 3.0-certified products: ACX7024, ACX7100, ACX7509, and MX304.

In the course of validation, all test cases passed without any exceptions. The intentionality of this validation is to align with MEF 3.0 Carrier Ethernet test cases and scenarios. In several areas, the JVD exceeds these requirements and is capable of advancing much further.

Operators leverage the MEF 3.0 certification as a benchmark for ensuring the quality and reliability of their Carrier Ethernet service offerings. By deploying MEF-certified equipment and adhering to MEF standards, operators can offer services that meet rigorous performance criteria and meet customer expectations. Service providers may go further to complete MEF 3.0 certification for their services portfolio, which provides confidence that their own customers can trust MEF-certified services meet stringent performance, reliability, and interoperability requirements, reducing deployment risks and ensuring consistent service quality.

Metro as a Service JVD provides assurance to operators that not only will the products perform within the expectations established by the Metro Ethernet Forum, but the entire end-to-end solution architecture and all included technologies harmonize to meet these goals. The JVD includes a diverse portfolio coexisting of modern and traditional VPN services, including EVPN-VPWS, EVPN-FXC, EVPN-ELAN, EVPN Type-5, BGP-VPLS, L2VPN, L2Circuit, and Floating Pseudowire. Services include selective per-VPN color-aware traffic steering over multi-domain and inter-AS topologies.

The validation confirms the end-to-end compliance of the Metro EBS solution architecture with MEF standards and is recommended for the delivery of Carrier Ethernet services.
