About the Router Insights Page

Router Insights in Juniper Mist Routing Assurance application provides visualizations for router events, port errors, BGP summary information and, enables administrators to monitor router performance and network traffic.

You can view the global BGP summary for a RIB, and the BGP summary for the RIB of a particular BGP peer, from the Router Insights page. The interface queue graphs provide actionable insights into interface queue depth utilization over time. Network administrators can use these insights to resolve routing issues and prevent packet drops.

To access this page, navigate to Organization > Inventory > Routers > Router Name > Router Insights or Routers > Router Name > Router Insights.

Select a time interval from the time range drop-down list. All graphs and tables on router insights page display information for the data collected during the selected interval. Select Custom Date to view router metrics for a desired date range. Select Custom Range to view router metrics for a desired date and time range.

Note:

The collected router insights will be available on the Router Insights page for seven days.

You can view router insights from different routers by selecting the desired router from Router drop-down list. The page can also be viewed in five different languages─English, Spanish, Japanese, French and German. Select your preferred language from the Change language drop-down list.

Tasks You Can Perform

You can perform the following tasks from this page:

  • Monitor router events─Router Events alert administrators about a router that need attention (for example, events like port down, port up, configuration change and so on). For more information on the router event types, see Router Events.

  • View router BGP summary─

    • BGP Global Summary─BGP Global section displays the BGP summary of a router. You can view all the routing tables of a router. Select a routing table from the routing table drop-down list. The BGP Peers graph, the Routing Table Stats graph and the Global Peers Flaps graphs show the BGP summary information for the selected routing table. This BGP summary includes status of BGP peers, number of total prefixes, number of active prefixes, and BGP peer flaps, in a graphical format.

      Note:

The data displayed in BGP Global section are global for the selected RIB.

For more information on the graphs in BGP Global section, see BGP Global Summary.

    • BGP Peers Summary─BGP Peers section displays BGP peer information table with details such as BGP peer state, last flap event, last error and so on. Select a BGP peer from the peer drop-down list. Then select a routing table from the routing table drop-down list. The Peer Flaps graph shows the peer flaps delta for a selected BGP peer. The Routing Table Peer Stats graph shows the routing table's prefixes (Active, Received, Accepted, Advertised) for the selected peer.

      Note:

The data displayed in BGP Peers section are for a selected routing table of a specific BGP peer.

For more information on the graphs and table in BGP Peers section, see BGP Peers Summary.

  • Monitor router performance from the following graphs─

    • CPU Utilization─The CPU Utilization chart displays a router's CPU consumption per interface, as a time-series graph. You can view maximum and average CPU utilization for a port from this graph. For more information, see CPU Utilization and Memory Utilization.

    • Memory Utilization─The Memory Utilization chart displays a router's memory consumption per interface, as a time-series graph. You can view maximum and average memory utilization for a port from this graph. For more information, see CPU Utilization and Memory Utilization.

    • Total number of bytes of data transmitted and received by a router. For more information, see Transmitted and Received Bytes.

    • Port Errors─Port Errors graph displays real-time statistics about errors on the ports of a router. For more information, see Port Errors.

  • Monitor traffic patterns and packet drops─Select an interface from the Interface drop-down list in Router Interface Queues section. The queue charts appear for the selected interface. For more information, see Router Interface Queues.

  • View port summary of a router. For more information, see Router Properties and Router Ports.

  • Refresh the page─Click the Refresh icon to trigger a page refresh.
