Modify, Delete, and Restore Resource Instances

Use the following procedures to modify, delete, and restore resource instances from the Paragon Automation database.

Modify a Resource Instance

To modify a resource instance:
  1. Click Orchestration > Resource Instances.
    The Resource Instances page appears.
  2. In the Resource Instances table, select the instance you want to modify and click the edit (pencil) icon.
    The Modify Resource-Instance-Name page appears.
  3. Modify the resource instance by uploading a preconfigured JSON file with the updates, or by editing the GUI fields in the Resource Editor pane. See Configure a Network Resource Pool.
After the modify service order for the resource instance is successfully executed, the updated configurations are uploaded to the Paragon Automation database.
    Note:

If you modify a resource instance when the resources configured in the instance are in use for a service, the modify service order is saved but fails to commit. When the service order commit fails, you can restore the last service order for the resource instance. See Restore a Resource Instance.

Delete a Resource Instance

To delete a resource instance:
  1. Click Orchestration > Resource Instances.
    The Resource Instances page appears.
  2. In the Resource Instances table, select the instance you want to delete and click the edit (pencil) icon.
  3. Click More > Deprovision.
Alternatively, right-click the resource instance name and click Deprovision.
  4. On the Deprovision Resource Instance dialog box, click Yes to confirm.
You see a message that the resource instance is successfully deleted.
    Note:

If you delete a resource instance when the resources configured in the instance are in use for a service, the delete service order fails to execute. When the delete order fails, you can restore the last service order for the resource instance. See Restore a Resource Instance.

Restore a Resource Instance

If you modify or delete a resource instance when the resources configured in the instance are in use for a service, the corresponding modify or delete service order that is generated is saved but fails to commit. When the service-order commit fails, you can restore the last service order for the resource instance.

To restore the last service order for a resource instance:

  1. Click Orchestration > Resource Instances.
    The Resource Instances page appears.
  2. In the Resource Instances table, select the instance you want to restore.
  3. Click More > Restore.
The Restore option is enabled only when a resource instance fails to commit. This option is disabled if the resource instance is successfully committed.
  4. Click Yes on the Restore Resource Instance dialog box to confirm.

A service order is generated and the Monitor Order Status page appears. The page displays the execution state of the order.

Alternatively, you can restore the last service order for a resource instance by clicking the Restore instance hyperlink on the Monitor Order Status page when a service order fails to commit after you modify the network resource pool. For more information, see step 8 of the Configure a Network Resource Pool procedure.
