Description

You can prioritize the internal traffic between the Routing Engine and the Packet Forwarding Engine or other Routing Engine based on the packet classification. This enhancement increases the internal and management traffic performance and provides better packet processing. In addition, this enhancement can introduce more operational commands which provide easily interpretable outputs for debugging packet path issues in the Routing Engine.

Before Junos OS Release 22.4R1, all internal traffic is considered as high priority. Starting in Junos OS Release 22.4R1, the applications in Packet Forwarding Engine and peer Routing Engine can change priority of a traffic using DSCP marking. Different platforms can use this packet prioritization feature based on their deployment scenarios and needs.
