Description

Enable traffic flow identification by configuring a GRE key that will be used to identify an individual traffic flow in a GRE tunnel. RFC2890 describes the enhancements to the GRE header that includes the key field and its use in identifying individual traffic flow in a tunnel. The encapsulating router uses the GRE key to encapsulate the packets for a particular traffic flow. The decapsulating router uses the GRE key to identify and decapsulate those packets for that traffic flow.

The key must be configured on the routers on both endpoints of a tunnel and a policy must be created and exported to populate the key in the forwarding table.
