idle-timeout (System)

date_range 21-Oct-24

Syntax

content_copy zoom_out_map
idle-timeout idle-timeout;

Hierarchy Level

For root users:

content_copy zoom_out_map
[edit system login]

For non-root users:

content_copy zoom_out_map
[edit system login class]

Description

Configure the maximum time for which the C shell or CLI session can be idle. The root user is logged out of the CLI session after the expiry of idle-timeout and is logged out of the C shell after the expiry of another idle-timeout. For instance, if you configure idle-timeout as 5 minutes, the root user is logged out of the system after 10 minutes.

Note:

This config knob is applicable only for root user. To enable idle-timeout for non-root user, refer to Configure the Timeout Value for Idle Login Sessions.

The set system login idle-timeout is a global setting that applies to the default class and the custom class. If an ideal-timeout is configured for any custom class, it would override the global setting of its user.
